Spring is here

作者/来源:[暂无]    发布时间:2020-04-17

After the cold and gloomy winter, cozy spring sunshine comes to make us smile! Spring is here! What better way to celebrate spring by introducing it as our 1st theme in the new semester for the students. As spring covers a wide variety of different topics, our teachers thought for different grades of different topics.

For Grade1, the teacher asked his students if they can identify what kind of animals they can see during spring through playing the “name that animal” game, many cute animals were named like rabbit and squirrels.

Besides, the gorgeous season brings us the ideal temperatures to pursue cool outdoor adventures and still enjoy comfy evenings curled up in a fluffy blanket. Being active is very important. Our teachers asked the students to talk about their favourite spring activities. The students were able to gain a deeper understanding of different activities such as: camping; going to the park; feeding the ducks; enjoying the picnic; visiting the zoo etc as they pursued their own unique hobbies.

It can’t be spring without flowers and breeze of nature. After the long and grim winter, spring rewards our waiting with dazzling flowers! Starting with early snowdrops, beautiful flowers in blossom are popping up everywhere you go. How gorgeous! So some teachers asked the students to identify different flowers such as lilies; roses; cherry blossoms and explain why it was their favorite flower through its features. Also the teachers got the students to design their own posters along with show them how to build models of flowers using coloured origami papers or to make a beautiful spring banner to decorate their houses. Getting hands on is the best way to engage!

Apart from flowers, the teachers also showed students the beauties of China during spring, like in Yunan for the annual water splashing festival; Tibet’s potala palace; Wuhan’s cherry blossom; Guangzhou’s rose gardens; Hangzhou’s westlake where they could experience just not the great culture but also seeing the magical sights that is their home country. Many of the students grew great passion for exploration during the time and told the teachers they wish to travel around China someday! It was great to hear that!

Teachers find simply teaching or explaining classes very boring, which is why they always involve other methods of audio/visual engagements through videos, songs, games, worksheets or even silly colouring, drawing comics for their students. They feel interactivity is very important! They want the students to have fun, be creative with their tasks, able to show their potential too. Through the theme of spring, the teachers help to expand students’ horizons and explore new fields of interests!
