Changes in Shanghai

作者/来源:五6 杨同学    发布时间:2022-05-16

Shanghai is famous as a modern metropolis. There are more than 25 million people living and working here. During holidays, tens of thousands of travelers take a visit to Shanghai. But in early March, because of the outbreak of COVID-19, Shanghai has changed a lot.

I used to go to school every workday, having classes and colourful activities at school. But now I have to stay at home all day and take lessons online. Similarily, my parents have no choice but to work from home. However, they’re still occupied with lots of online meetings and phonecalls every day.

The roads used to be very busy, but now they become quiet. There are few cars and buses. The metro stations were full of people from day to night, but now most metro lines are out of service. You can’t see any people in the street, except for the medical workers and volunteers.

Before the pandemic, it was convenient to purchase food. We can buy different food in supermarket and stores. But now, all the supermarkets and stores are shut down. Buying vegetables becomes a common problem. Shopping online used to be very quick, but now it is quite difficult. At present, the most popular and feasible way to buy food is online group purchase. In addition, the government sometimes delivers some food for free.

A few months ago, I was not quite familiar with my neighbors, but now we all know each other very well and often give each other a helping hand. We even had an online birthday party!

Life during the lockdown is quite unusual. Although the pandemic brings a lot of inconvenience to our lives, it will definitely be an unforgettable experience in my life.
