In October and November, we learn about sports. For Grade Four, the first subject is The Olympics. During this sub-topic we will be looking at the questions ‘What are the Olympics?’ and ‘When did the Olympics begin?’; and then move onto looking at The Modern Olympics, The Olympic Torch, Swimming and Other Olympic Events, Winning a Medal and Hosting the Olympics.

The second subject is Hockey. Again, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What is Hockey?’ and ‘When was Hockey Invented?’; and then move onto looking at How to Play Hockey, The Hockey Rink, Hockey Equipment, Positions of Hockey Players and Leagues and Teams.

The third subject is Skateboarding, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What is Competitive Skateboarding?’ and ‘When was Skateboarding Invented?’; and then move onto looking at Types of Skateboards, Protective Gear and Safety, The Vert Skateboarding Event, The Street Skateboarding Event and The Big Air Event.

The fourth subject is Formula One. Again, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What is Formula One?’ and ‘When was Formula One Invented?’; and then move onto looking at How is a Formula 1 Season Scored?, The Race Circuits, Formula One Cars, Formula One Teams and Formula One Drivers. Finally, we will finish by completing a poster around the sport theme.

For Grade 5, the first subject is The Summer Olympics. During this sub-topic we will be looking at the questions ‘What are the Summer Olympics?’ and ‘When did the Olympics begin?’; and then move onto looking at some interesting Olympic Events, such as the Decathlon, Synchronized Swimming, Whitewater Kayaking, Skeet Shooting and Dressage.

The second subject is The Winter Olympics. Again, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What are the Winter Olympics?’ and ‘When did the Winter Olympics begin?’; and then move onto looking at some interesting Winter Olympic Events, such as Slalom, Bobsledding, Skeleton, Biathlon and Curling.

The third subject is The X Games. Again, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What are the X Games?’ and ‘When did the X Games begin?’; and then move onto looking at some interesting X Games Events, such as Skateboarding, BMX Biking, Motocross, Superpipe and Slopestyle.

The fourth subject is Esports. Again, first we will be looking at the questions ‘What are the Esports?’ and ‘When did the Esports begin?’; and then move onto looking at The Tournaments, The Viewers, Games, Teams and Players and Esports in the Olympics. Finally, we will finish by completing a poster around the sport theme.
