Shanghai is a modern and active city. Many visitors come to Shanghai every year. But do you know what Shanghai was like 70 years ago?

   First of all, our life has changed a lot. In the past, students often walk to school alone. But now we go to school with our parents by car. Also, in 1950s ,because of the natural disaster, there was little food to eat. So every family saved food at that time. But now we don't worry about foods.

   What’s more, buildings in Shanghai were different. In the past, the houses were shabby Shikumen houses. And almost every two rooms had a public kitchen. The most embarrssing thing was every family had a spittoon to put you defecate to the public toilet. Nowadays , we have our own bathroom and we needn’t do the unbearable thing.

   Next, changes also taken place in transportation. Decades ago, almost every family had at least one bicycle to transport. And if we needed to go through the Huangpu River, we would take ferries. In addition, some families used to go out by bus. But nowadays there are a lot of transportations in Shanghai, just like the train, merto, maglev and so on. Even the biggest airport in China has been built in Shanghai.

   Last but not least, entertainment has also changed. There were few parks or movie theatres in Shanghai. But now, there are zoos, theatres, cinemas, Botanical Gardens, and the biggest Disney Resort. You can stay in Shanghai to enjoy the exciting life from all the world.

   All in all, the changes bring us not only convenience, but also happiness. And I'm proud that l'm a Shanghaiese.
