My favourite Chinese festival is the Dragon Boat Festival. It is one of the four top traditional Chinese festivals. The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Dumpling Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. This year, the Dragon Boat Festival falls on June 3.

   There’re many different legends about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, but the most famous one is to remember a patriotic poet Qu Yuan. People have dragon boat races on that day. Dragon boat racing is the most important activity of the Dragon Boat Festival. The winning team will have good luck and a happy life in the coming year.

   On that day, my family usually hang mugwort on the front door to keep flies and mosquitoes away. I’ll make some perfume pouches to wear and they can bring me good luck. Having zongzi is the most important thing at the Dragon Boat Festival. There are many different kinds of fillings, such as meat, hummus and almonds. As for me, I like the meat ones best.

   The Dragon Boat Festival is the day for my family to get together and enjoy zongzi. I wish everyone a safe and healthy Dragon Boat Festival.
