Did you know? The First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held on a small boat! Today, let me take you to the place where this special boat is docked — Jiaxing South Lake.

   The South Lake is located in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. Its two most well-known spots are Yanyu Tower and the South Lake Red Boat.

   Yanyu Tower is a lovely old building with curved eaves that look so graceful. Not far away, the South Lake Red Boat lies quietly on the water, matching the tower perfectly. A long time ago, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was first held in Shanghai. But because the French Concession police disturbed the meeting, the delegates had to move it to this boat to go on. The Red Boat we see now isn’t the original one. It’s a careful copy made based on what the meeting delegates remembered. Now it has become a popular place for people to visit and learn about our red history.

   Jiaxing South Lake has not only the pretty views of the lake center island and Yanyu Tower, but also the Red Boat that carried the start of the Communist Party of China. I hope everyone can visit this beautiful lake during holidays, and learn more about how the Communist Party of China grew up.
