Australia was a place that I longed to visit. After months of waiting, my family and I finally went on a trip to Australia during the winter holiday.

Our first stop was Melbourne, where we only stayed for one day. We went to the State Library of Victoria, and I got to read in this quiet and peaceful place.

   Then, we hopped on a car and started our journey on the famous Great Ocean Road. We went to the Twelve Apostles. Despite its name, there were only three of them left.

   After that, we went to Tasmania — an island at the south tip of Australia, which is hard to find on the map because it’s so small. That was my favourite part of the trip. There were many endangered species in Tasmania, some of which only found on the island. One animal we saw was the Tasmanian Devil, which is endangered, but, surprisingly, not because of human activity. In fact, they're the only species that I know which is not endangered because of people. They like to bite each other, as a normal part of their life, but through the bites, they could spread a disease called DFTS. When they get the disease, they can't eat and they die. People are working hard to protect them.

   We were in for another surprise in Tasmania: we saw the auroras in Australia! It was incredible to witness the lights dancing across the sky.
