The Yangtze River or the Changjiang River is the longest river in China. It is also the third longest river in the world, after the Nile and the Amazon.
First, it starts high in the west of China, in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Next, it runs down the mountains and flows through 11 provinces and cities: Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shanghai. Finally, it flows into the sea at Chongming Island.
There are many historic and ancient tourist attractions along the Yangtze River. Among them is the Three Gorges. The Three Gorges are Qutang Gorge, Wuxia Gorge and Xiling Gorge. In the past, a lot of poets and painters travelled there and left poems and paintings about the beautiful Three Gorges.
The Yangtze River plays an important role in Chinese history. I like the Yangtze River because it is not only a river of China, but also the symbol of the Chinese spirit.
