There are many festivals in China and I like the Spring Festival best. It is not only the most important but also the most historic festival in this country. There are many traditional customs associated with it and I am going to talk about a few of my favorites and the reasons why I like them so much. This will make it clear why I think the Spring Festival is the best.

   Since the beginning of the new year, we do many things that symbolize a new beginning. For example, we get well prepared for the new year by giving our house a thorough cleaning, decorating our door with a pair of couplets expressing good wishes for the new year. On the windows we hang red couplets cut into beautiful traditional designs. In fact, the red color is always along with celebration, so in addition to the decorations, we also wear new red clothes when visiting our friends and relatives with gifts. At night, like the bright and shiny North Star in the sky, there are beautiful fireworks shooting up into the sky, exploding into different colors. Some are like flowers blooming and others are like stars twinkling. .

   Food is a very important part of the Spring Festival, so at the very beginning, we buy different kinds of traditional ingredients at local stores. On New Years’ Eve, families usually have a big dinner together, typically with fish, dumplings, various kinds of meat and many other traditional delicacies, all of which are very delicious. We chat with others while watching interesting and exciting TV shows. We also play games together.

   The last day of the Spring Festival is the Lantern Festival, with thousands of lanterns lined up in the streets and parks. People eat round dumplings, and even make lanterns themselves. At night, we usually go out with rabbit lanterns and wander in the streets. We laugh and play and have a good time. I always enjoy the Spring Festival. I love it because of the delicious food and entertainment, but the most important thing is that family and friends can get together and share happiness. I am grateful to many friends for communications and encouragement who I have not seen for a long time. How nice it is! Spring Festival is a great time to relax and enjoy my life.
